History

The Idea of the Nigerian women in Mathematics started in July 2010 at the Pan African Congress of Mathematician (PACOM) 2010 which was held at the National Mathematical Centre Abuja. The idea then aimed at bringing Nigeria female in Mathematics together regularly for presentation of their research and to foster collaboration among them. Dr. Deborah O. Makinde mentioned the idea to Professor Olabisi O. Ugbebor who was in full support of it. Right at that PACOM, contacts of all the female participants were taken for the purpose of the idea. Funding was the major problem. We were able to have the inaugural meeting of the Nigerian Women in Mathematics in July 8th 2014 at the University of Ibadan. It was totally funded by the Professorial Chair of Pastor E.A. Adeboye (G.O. of Redeem Church) occupied by Professor Olabisi Ore-Ofe Ugbebor.
